True Story Theateris a nonprofit improv theater company.   Our mission is to promote social healing through theatre by building empathy, respect, and understanding in the honoring of true stories.Come to a performance: A few volunteers from the audience share what’s important to them related to the theme of the show. Actors listen deeply then spontaneously transform the stories into theater, portraying the heart of what they heard using dialogue, movement, music and song.  From this simple interaction, people laugh, cry and experience surprising insights.Try a drop-in c﻿lass: Anyone interested is welcome--no theatre experience necessary.  Come and have fun and share stories with other playful people.H﻿ire us to perform for your group or family for a special event.

We aim to raise $5000 for this coming season and help match cultural grants. Your contribution makes a huge difference. Help support our theater of empathy at this critical moment.This event is for everyone - people who are new to Playback or familiar with this form of interactive theater and long-time fans. Pick from engaging activities including a Singing Playback group, a improv and Playback mini class, a remembrance circle for loved ones lost during COVID, a space for newcomers to Playback, and more.</li></ul>7:30 - 9:00pm <ul><li>Playback performance: Stories of living in times of change</li><li>Learn more about True Story Theater: Hear how True Story is helping our communities to build bridges and deepen dialogue and understanding across differences</li></ul>Reserve your ticket or make a donation. Our bystander workshops helped people learn to stand up effectively to bias and bigotry, and we helped them discover themselves and others more deeply and compassionately in our ongoing open playback workshops.<a href="https://www.truestorytheater.com" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">True Story Theater</a> does 75-100 public and private performances and workshops a year. We aim to honor untold stories from many under-represented and marginalized communities. This bi-annual fundraiser is crucial to help us provide powerful workshops and shows to many communities and groups that do not have the budget to hire TST.Our fundraising goal for this event is $5000. Please give what you are able to. Your donations will help us to match grants we have received and ensure our programs are accessible to all.
