Bridge 1 Cleaning - Meet North of Mount Vernon Estates

The Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail works to maintain and improve the Mount Vernon Trail and promote its safe use.

Volunteers are needed to help clean Bridge 1 which is .5 miles north of Mount Vernon Estates.

George Washington's Mount Vernon

The Friends of Mount Vernon Trail will be cleaning Bridge 1 which is approximately .5 miles north of the Mount Vernon Estates parking lot. This bridge is known to be very slippery when wet due in part to mold and mildew accumulation. We&#x27;ll be working to remove it to prevent crashes.Volunteers will perform some of the following work:<ul><li>Applying a cleaning solution to deck boards</li><li>Scrubbing deck boards with a brush</li><li>Operating a power washer</li><li>Carrying water from a nearby source by bike</li><li>Removing excess water with a squeegee</li></ul>What to Bring:<ul><li>Water</li><li>Sunscreen</li><li>Gloves (We&#x27;ll have a few pair on hand as well)</li></ul>Where to Meet:Bridge 1 is approximately .5 miles north of the parking lot at the Mount Vernon Estates. See image below for map from the parking lot to work location.COVID Safety Precautions:<ul><li>Work will be performed outside with room to socially distance</li><li>All volunteers are required to wear a face covering</li></ul>Support our Work:We&#x27;re raising funds to continue to improve the Mount Vernon Trail.
