Observe the UK's very first citizens' assembly established by the grassroots: The House of the People: 20-22nd July 2025.Society is facing global war, rising fascism, a growing economic crisis, and rapid climate breakdown. But a new Parliament is being built by the grassroots to reclaim power for citizens. You’re invited to witness the first-ever sitting of the House of the People — a permanent, grassroots citizens’ assembly — to shape the People’s Charter: a new democratic vision in our time of crisis. An accurate snapshot of the UK is stepping into the space the political class has abandoned, to listen to local communities, IPCC lead authors and senior lecturers and to draft a truly democratic response to war, inequality and climate collapse.Between Sunday July 20th - Tuesday July 22nd, you are welcome to drop in at the location in central London any time between 9:30am–4pm as an observer to this special moment. Key highlights:— Sun 20, 9:30am – Opening and Welcome— Mon 21, 2:00pm – Planery feedback on the public's top priorities with Experts— Tues 22, 3:30pm – The People’s Charter revealed Topics being discussed at this sitting based on findings from hundreds of local assemblies across the country include:<ul><li>Ending Genocide/Unjust War</li><li>Ending Economic Inequality/Taxing the Rich</li><li>Upgrading Democracy</li><li>Climate &amp; Ecological Emergency</li></ul>Expert advisers include:Prof. Steve Keen, Dr. Doug Parr, Hazem Jamjoum, Richard Murphy, Doug Parr, Leigh Evans, Prof. Richard Betts MBE, Sarah Chayes, Pro. Graham Smith, Dr. Daniela Nadj, Dr. Charlie Gardener.Please understand spaces are limited, and attendance is at the discretion of venue and organisers.RSVP to request a space. (Venue will be released ahead of the event. It is in Central London. Venue listed on Eventbrite is a placeholder, NOT the correct one. However the actual venue is close walking distance from Red Lion Square.)
