The Friends of the Congo (FOTC) is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt advocacy organization based in Washington, DC. The FOTC was established in 2004 to work in partnership with Congolese to bring about peaceful and lasting change in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), formerly Zaire.

Strong African Women share personal stories of Resistance, Resilience, Resourcefulness, and Rebellion from across Africa and the Diaspora

Join Friends of the Congo as we close out Women's History Month (and enter the rest of the Year celebrating African Women) with a host of Strong African Women whose personal stories embody the spirits of Resistance, Resilience, Resourcefulness, and Rebellion that pervade African Women. Guests will share their stories around the four Rs to bring light to the struggles and silver linings of being an African Woman in a neocolonial world.Stories will be punctuated by cultural performances from women in our community whose stories are also told through dance, movement, song, and music. Q &amp; A session will close out the program.Come ready to learn, engage, and bear witness to the magic of the African Woman.
