Understanding Type 2 Diabetes is the third class of the Diabetes Initiative series. The Diabetes Initiative series provides the knowledge, tools, and lifestyle strategies to help individuals reduce the risk of developing diabetes, and to manage and even reverse the disease. Classes are intended for those with diabetes, pre-diabetes, or a family history or risk factors for developing diabetes, and their adult family members and loved ones. Each class in the program will feature nutrition education and cooking demonstrations, and participants will leave with a selection of affordable and easy recipes they can prepare at home.Food demo includes:Very Primo PastaKing Kale and Parmesan "Cheese" Broccoli Salad Gingered Melon Jane is a Plant-Based Nutrition Professional through the T. Colin Campbell, Center for Nutrition Studies, a Licensed Food for Life Instructor through PCRM, and a recent graduate of the Rouxbe Culinary School in Professional-Plant Based Cooking. Jane is on a mission to help individuals learn to incorporate practices that generate health and well-being through cooking, composting, and compassion.
