Our Lady of the Rosary Contest 2025: Celebration of Winners and Finalists

We celebrate our Catholic tradition and the arts that spring from that dynamic seed. We offer all people of good will the opportunity to explore, learn, and grow with like-minded writers, students, and appreciators of written words that honor the Trinitarian God.In our mission, we sponsor theCatholic Poetry Society of Houston, theFearless Catholic Writing Camp, and Fearless Catholic After-School Programs.We also host monthly meetings of writers, publishers, and editors associated with the Catholic arts scene. We host mini-retreats combining spiritual reflection and the arts. We invite you to join us! All of our events retain a deep awareness of the spiritual patrimony and treasures of the Church.

Join CLA members and friends to celebrate the 2025 Poetry Contest winners and finalists. This year’s contest asked writers to compose poems in honor of “Our Lady of the Rosary.”This year’s judge is Tamara Nicholl-Smith.Judge’s BioTamara Nicholl-Smith’s poetry has been featured on numerous radio shows, a spoken-word classical piano fusion CD, and public appearances. It has also appeared in print in many publications, including The Examined Life Journal, Catholic Arts Today and America. She is a popular faculty member for the Catholic Literary Arts/ virtual class series and longtime CLA member. Tamara inaugurated the CLA School Visits by a Catholic Poet in 2025.Her poem on Saint Jerome is part of the display of the Guttenberg Bible installed at the University of Saint Thomas. Houston, Texas. Tamara is a member of Catholic Literary Arts and a contributor to the “Joy of Catholic Poetry” and “Resurrection Joy” presentations done at parishes, schools, and universities. She coordinates the annual Catholic Literary Arts’ Sacred Poetry Contest which brings together poets from across the globe to write in response to curated artwork from both historical and contemporary sacred artists.This event will include:· Comments by this year’s judge· Reading by winners and finalists
