About this event

Please join us online for our Wikipedia as Public Scholarship workshop on Friday, March 12, 2021 from 12:00PM-1:30PM ET. This introductory workshop will cover editing basics—addressing some of the specific concerns experts face on Wikipedia—and discuss how scholars can use their expertise to advance knowledge equity online. Topics include navigating privacy issues, concerns around conflict of interest, and getting started with articles that need a lot of work.

Participants are encouraged to identify an article to work on and register on the event dashboard in advance and familiarize yourself with the Wikipedia event page. We aim to have you editing by the end of the workshop.

All comp/rhet scholars with a PhD or pursuing one are welcome no matter their level of experience with Wikipedia. This event is limited to 15 participants.

The workshop will be hosted on Google Meet by Savannah Cragin, the CCCC Wikipedian-in-Residence. This event is sponsored by the CCCC Wikipedia Initiative with funding from the Wikimedia Foundation.
