Join the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children for a virtual event, “Inclusion in the Arts,” on Thursday, May 6, 2021. Students, educators, parents and community members can join in on a day of learning through music, horticulture therapy and art focused on inclusivity for typically developing students and students with disabilities. WPSBC’s Primary Program will participate in a music class with peers. The Middle Program will create art projects. Attendees will be given a list of art supplies to participate in the activity. The Secondary Program will work with local high schoolers on a horticulture therapy lesson focused on the Pennsylvania Trout in the Classroom Project, teaching the importance of conservation efforts, ecosystems, habitats and natural resources. We invite all who are interested in attending to please RSVP to receive Zoom and specific start times for each activity. Music: 10:00-10:30 AM and 10:30-11:00 AMSpring Is Here! Please join us as we celebrate Spring with music and movement activities for primary students. Horticulture: 11:00 AM-11:45 AMExplore an adapted environmental and horticulture program, Trout in the Classroom, in which students raise trout eggs. Explore with as us we monitor tank water quality, engage in stream habitat study, and learn to appreciate water resources. Art : Lower Elementary: 10:00-10:45 AM, Upper Elementary: 11:00-11:30As part of a collaborative project, prior to Remake Learning Day students from Falk School and WPSBC will create a vessel (a type of container) using Model Magic and then swap vessels between schools. On May 6 via Zoom, all students will create something to put inside the vessel that they would like to share about themselves. Vessels will then be swapped again, this time filled with a special piece of art created by their peer.
