Our vision is to have a world where all children are given the opportunity to reach their full potential. Washington County is the second most populated Oregon county.  When it comes to academic performance, emotional development, and preparation for employment, County kids are missing out. WCK is the only county-wide coordinator serving afterschool and summer OST programs and is also a liaison to the county’s early learning hub. WCK facilitates networking, educational opportunities, the sharing of best practices, and fostering collaboration among providers. This session: Tuesday, April 6STE(A)M activities at home: Helene Cuomo, STEM TOSA (Teacher On Special Assignment), Quatama/Tobias Elementary SchoolsDescription: Doing STEM activities at home with your children might seem intimidating, but it&#x27;s not! There are lots of fun, low- prep activities you can do that will get kids excited about science, technology, engineering, and math. Join us to see a few examples and get the resources you need to give them a try!<a href="https://washingtoncountykids.org/event/parent-speaker-series/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">WCK Parent Speaker Series </a>are presentations designed to provide useful information, tips, and tools for parents/guardians of children K-8.Each one-hour session begins with an informative and informal presentation by our professional speakers and allows adequate time for participants to ask questions.<ul><li>Sessions are provided at no cost to registered participants</li><li>Sessions are scheduled for Tuesdays from 6-7:00 PM PST (session recordings will be available)</li></ul>Helene Cuomo bio: Hello! My name is Helene Cuomo. I live in Tigard, Oregon with my 7 year old daughter and husband of 13 years. I am currently a STEM TOSA in the Hillsboro School District. In my 14 years of teaching, I have taught students ranging from 2 years old up through 6th grade. Raised as an indoor kid in Arizona, moving to Oregon and becoming a parent changed the way I wanted to behave. I started to love exploring the natural areas in my neighborhood and around Oregon. Seeing the world through a child’s eyes encouraged me to ask more questions, do more research, and make the world a better place. I love to help children explore the world around them through simple activities that peak their interests and inspire further learning!
