<h3>KIB 2021 Trash-Off Extends to Smaller Gatherings</h3>Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) thanks all the registrants for the 2021 Don’t Mess with Texas Trash-Off scheduled for Saturday, April 10. The 100 volunteer spots are filled, but it doesn’t mean your group can’t be a part of this event, too. KIB is extending the event to smaller groups. Groups of 10 or less are encouraged to gather at other locations around Irving on April 10, clean the area, take lots of pictures and submit their results via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #IrvingTrashOff. Locations can be an Irving neighborhood, a park (except Trinity View Park) or any other safe location around the city. Include the number of volunteers participating, combined hours worked and the bags of litter collected. Take lots of pictures to show off your group&#x27;s awesome abilities! All virtual volunteers will be entered into a prize drawing.The annual Trash-Off is Texas’ signature event for the Great American Cleanup. Volunteers are requested to follow these recommendations:<ul><li>Volunteers ages 2 and older should wear masks.</li><li>All participants should wear gloves and any other necessary protective equipment.</li><li>Social distancing of 6 feet at all times.</li><li>Groups of 10 or less in an area at a time.</li><li>Wash and sanitize hands immediately after the cleanup.</li><li>Participants should not attend if they have been in close contact with someone who exhibits signs of COVID-19 or if they are not feeling well.</li></ul>For the past several years, it has become a Trash-Off tradition to bring a canned food item to donate to Crisis Ministries of Irving food pantry. Instead, KIB encourages virtual volunteers to make a financial contribution to Crisis Ministries or a food pantry of their choice.For more information, call (972) 721-2175 or email the Keep Irving Beautiful office at rhose@cityofirving.org.
