In this workshop series, we explore how biotechnology can be integrated into your living environment or life sciences curriculum, and help launch new careers in STEM. <ul><li>Day 1) DNA 101 - Revamping our teaching of DNA structure and transcription/translation.</li><li>Day 2) Bacterial Transformation - Transcription/translation, pGLO. </li><li>Day 3) PCR and gels - Build your own gel box, PCR and gel electrophoresis.</li></ul>As the application of technology to benefit human life, Biotechnology can include the use of living systems for research and development of products, genetic engineering and more. Together, we’ll discuss strategies for how biotechnology can be used as a jumping off point for many different concepts: engineering and design thinking, equity and inclusion, and scientific inquiry. Perfect for high school and interested middle school science teachers across disciplines. Teachers will take away ready-to-use NGSS-aligned lesson plan and lab ideas!NOTE!
