Join artist Shelley Jean in this comprehensive 2-day workshop to learn all about encaustic painting! Make multiple pieces of encaustic art.

The Studios at Lake Lily

This workshop will take place over two days (Friday, May 21st and Saturday, May 22nd from 10am-4pm)Encaustic is an artistic medium consisting of hot, pigmented beeswax. Encaustic painting is an ancient technique, but it has become increasingly popular with contemporary artists. Come delve into the versatility of this fascinating process that encourages experimentation! In this comprehensive 2-day workshop, students will learn about encaustic history, safety, surfaces, and fusing. A variety of techniques will be explored, such as incising, layering, pigment sticks, mark-making, mixed media collage, mono-printing, and incorporating photos. Students will make multiple pieces of art by utilizing the learned techniques. All materials will be supplied. All skill levels are welcome!This workshop will be led by expert artist/educator Shelley Jean.
