We Been Knew: A Holding Space for Our Mental Health Truths

Village of Sound Mind creates healing-centered spaces for Black and POC women and all their intersections to connect, reflect, and grow. Our events offer community support, guided discussions, and practical tools for personal and collective wellness. Led by Philicia Ross, LCSW-C, a therapist specializing in trauma and identity exploration, we hold space for authenticity, rest, and liberation. Join us as we cultivate spaces where you can show up fully and reclaim wellness on your terms.

“Black women have always known how to care for each other—and ourselves—even when the world didn’t have the language.”Join us for We Been Knew: A Holding Space for Our Mental Health Truths, a community-rooted gathering designed to honor the inherited wisdom, emotional labor, and quiet resilience that Black women have carried for generations.This is not a workshop about fixing yourself—this is a space to breathe, be witnessed, and name what you’ve always known to be true about your mental and emotional health.Together, we’ll hold space for the realities we carry:<ul><li>The exhaustion of always being “on”</li><li>The legacy of care that wasn’t always reciprocal</li><li>The inner knowing that sometimes got silenced to surviveWhether you’re thriving, surviving, or somewhere in between, you are welcome here. This space is intentionally created for Black women and will be held with love, care, and cultural attunement.</li></ul><h3>What to Expect</h3><ul><li>A grounding welcome and community agreements</li><li>Real talk on mental health truths Black women live with daily</li><li>Guided journaling + reflective prompts</li><li>Gentle witnessing in community (no pressure to share!)</li><li>A soft closing ritual to honor your inner wisdom</li></ul>You don’t need to prepare anything—just come as you are.<h3>Date &amp; Time</h3>Sunday, July 27, 2025 at 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM EST Live only | No recordings for the safety of the space<h3>Location:</h3>Virtual (Zoom link will be sent a day before the event)<h3>Who This is For</h3>Black women of all identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences who want to feel seen, centered, and supported.<h3>Donation-Based Offering</h3>This offering is donation-based to remain accessible to all. Please give what feels aligned and sustainable for you. Your support allows Village of Sound Mind to continue offering spaces rooted in healing, community, and care.<h3>Facilitator</h3>Philicia Ross (she/her) is a licensed therapist, EMDR-trained facilitator, and founder of Village of Sound Mind. Her work centers Black and POC women navigating trauma, chronic illness, and the weight of survival. Through Holding Space, she weaves therapeutic tools with ancestral wisdom, softness, and soul-deep care.Come as you are. Leave a little lighter. We see you, and we honor what you carry.
