What is data science and why is it important? Find out the answers to these questions and more straight from an experienced data scientist in the automotive industry. You will also hear how data science is applied to real world problems in the industry and what skills are required of a data scientist. Pelham Barron is a Data Science Manager at Ford Motor Company where his team supports customer analytics and targeted marketing. He has also spent time working in Manufacturing and Treasury Analytics at Ford, watching the company grow to embrace analytics as a key driver of business decision making. Prior to joining Ford, he earned degrees in Mathematics, Statistics, and Actuarial Mathematics from the University of Oxford and the University of Michigan. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer and trumpet with various bands around Michigan.
