YOUTH THEATRE OF THE BLUEGRASS grew from Project Encore, a performing arts workshop for youth ages 8-14. Project Encore began as an idea of founding director Alyssa Shelton Curry and turned into a partnership with the Scott County chapter of the YMCA in 2005. From 2005 to 2014, workshops were held in various schools throughout Scott County (KY) offering Broadway themed classes under the Project Encore banner through the YMCA with much celebration and success. YOUTH THEATRE OF THE BLUEGRASS Corp is a recognized tax exempt, non-profit 501 c(3) organization.

Set in the vibrant and theatrical world of Renaissance England, Something Rotten JR follows the Bottom brothers, Nick and Nigel, as they struggle to find success in the shadow of the rockstar playwright of the era—William Shakespeare. Desperate to outshine the Bard, Nick turns to a soothsayer who predicts that the next big thing in theatre will be musicals—stories told through song and dance. Inspired, the brothers set out to create the world’s very first musical, leading to a hilarious series of missteps, misunderstandings, and outrageous show-stopping numbers.Packed with witty humor, catchy tunes, and heartfelt moments, Something Rotten JR celebrates the power of creativity, the importance of family, and the magic of theatre.
