The Art & History Museums of Maitland (A&H) is a premier cultural destination and community gathering place in Central Florida, about 15 minutes from downtown Orlando. A&H is a group of sophisticated attractions that includes a contemporary art museum, 3 interactive history museums, and a stunning campus recognized as Central Florida's only National Historic Landmark. A&H also features a community art school nestled among its beautiful gardens and unique architecture.Founded in 1937 as an artists’ retreat, our space still fulfills this mission today with multiple artist residencies serving both local and international artists. A&H provides the Central Florida community with many  activities every month, including free family programming, affordable site tours, and free presentations on art and history from visiting experts. <h3>Homeschool Day at A&amp;H: - Historic Architecture Tour &amp; Printmaking Art Workshop</h3> You’re invited to step into the fantastical world of artist, master printmaker and architect Jules Andre' Smith at the Art &amp; History Museums in Maitland. Become inspired on a mini tour of our historic grounds originally built as an artist colony nearly 100 years ago!After our tour and in the “en plein air” (open air) of our garden, you’ll learn about the fine art of printmaking. You’ll discover the tools to create a relief print, and then experience printmaking through a guided printmaking lesson. Young printmaker apprentices will have the opportunity to make a plate, ink a plate and then pull a print!After printmaking, revisit the architectural art of Andre’ Smith on a self-guided photo scavenger hunt.The cost is $10 per child and includes all the art supplies and $5 per chaperone. Afterwards, you’re invited to extend your outing with a picnic lunch right next door at Quinn Strong Park.Space is limited for students (suggested K - 5, middle school welcome too) and their chaperones. Please note, that this is not a drop off program. Chaperones will need to stay with their child(ren) throughout the homeschool day, and due to the small capacity of the program, refunds are not available.If you have any questions about our Homeschool Day, please feel free to contact our education team at education@artandhistory.org.
