Dining with Diabetes is a national program designed for adults with type 2 diabetes, is at-risk for type 2 diabetes, or has pre-diabetes.

Dining with Diabetes is a national program designed for adults with type 2 diabetes, is at-risk for type 2 diabetes, has pre-diabetes, is a family member, caregiver or provides support for people with type 2 diabetes, wants to learn more about managing and preventing type 2 diabetes.The program teaches skills needed to identify and understand important information about managing this disease.Dining with Diabetes complements and does not replace other diabetes education and management programs. The program is composed of a series of four weekly, two hour classes and a three month follow up class.There are four separate programs being offered for 2021.Select the Program which best suits your schedule. Program 1: Wednesdays - March 31, April 7, 14, 21 - 5:00pm - 6:30pmProgram 2: Thursdays - June 3, 10, 17, 24 - 11:00am - 12:30pmProgram 3: Wednesdays - August, 4, 11, 18, 25 - 6:00pm - 7:30pmProgram 4: Tuesdays - October 5, 12, 19, 26 - 6:00 -7:30 pm

Participants will learn:<ul><li>menu planning</li><li>carbohydrate counting</li><li>portion control</li><li>label reading</li><li>healthy fats</li><li>the importance of fiber in managing diabetes</li></ul>Note: Individual meal plans or guidance will not be provided.Who should attend?The Dining with Diabetes program is available to anyone, 18 years or older who:<ul><li>is at-risk for or currently has type 2 diabetes</li><li>has pre-diabetes</li><li>is a family member, caregiver or provides support for people with type 2 diabetes</li><li>wants to learn more about managing and preventing type 2 diabetes</li></ul>The program is led by registered dietitians and trained University of Maryland Extension Educators in consultation with registered dietitians.
