LAB Talks: The Perfect Find: Inside the Twin Cities Vintage Scene

Oh this? It's one of a kind.

With sustainability at the forefront of fashion and home design, vintage pieces have become all the rage, and for good reason. Whether it's fashion, furnishings, or home decor, the Twin Cities is home to a vibrant scene of boutiques, markets, and pop-up shops, all curating one-of-a-kind pieces looking for their second (or third! or fourth!) home.

We're honored to welcome Lilly Ball of Hermine, Kristi Stratton of hunt & gather, and Hayley Matthews-Jones of MPLS Vintage Market to join us in conversation with Nicole Crowder of GLAS. Together, we'll learn from their journeys into the vintage scene, how they source, and how you can find a perfect piece of your own.

PLUS, we're thrilled to share that our panelists will have a curated selection of their items available in a mini pop-up shopping experience after the panel! Come for the free coffee and conversation, stay for the killer vintage finds.

As always, this event is FREE and open to all.

Event Schedule:

Doors Open and Check-In: 9 am-9:30

Meet the Panel

About Lilly Ball: Lilly Ball is the co-founder of Hermine, an upscale vintage boutique she runs alongside her husband, Willy Schwartz. Opened in 2024 in Minneapolis’s historic Warehouse District, Hermine is known for its refined curation and emphasis on timeless, natural-fiber garments. Lilly has worked professionally in vintage since 2018, building a career around thoughtful storytelling, sustainability, and elevated design.

About Kristi Stratton: Kristi B. Stratton is the owner of hunt & gather, a vintage amusement store established in 2003. Fresh, edited, groovy, and quirky, the store is home to two levels of antiques from 15 different vendors. Kristi's love of antiques started in childhood, when her great-grandfather came from Norway and opened a general store in Western Minnesota. The store was always packed to the gills with antiques, perfect for treasure-hunting. The thrill of a good find started early, and has only gotten stronger over her 61 years of age!

About Hayley Matthews-Jones: Hayley Matthews-Jones is the Founder and CEO of Minneapolis Craft Market and Minneapolis Vintage Market. Since 2015, she has built a thriving market scene in the Twin Cities, working with more than 2,000 local artists, 500 vintage vendors and dozens of venues, the market is now an established part of Minneapolis/St. Paul culture. Across the two brands she hosts 120+ popup events per year and has permanent retail store locations at Meet Minneapolis Visitor Center in downtown Minneapolis and a new store opening summer of 2025 at MSP International Airport (Terminal 1 – Concourse C).

About Nicole Crowder: Nicole Crowder is an award-winning Photo Director and creative entrepreneur with over two decades of experience in media. Over the years, she has helmed the visuals at organizations like Netflix, The Washington Post, AARP Media, National Geographic Traveler and most currently as the Photo Director at The Minnesota Star Tribune.

Beyond editorial work, she is the founder of Nicole Crowder Upholstery, an acclaimed furniture design studio that she hemmed for 10 years and which blended storytelling and craftsmanship through color, textiles, and form. Her work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Elle decor, and dozens more publications as well as sold in West Elm and World Market in addition to being currently on view at the Cooper-Hewitt’s Smithsonian design Museum in New York through August 2025.

In 2024 Nicole launched her latest venture as the founder and curator of GLAS, an emporium that sources and sells vintage and antique glassware. It’s a love letter to nostalgia, functional space making, and distinctly made objects.
