The Spirit of Django Meets the Birthplace of Jazz
Kick off Django A Gogo 2026 at The Woodland in Maplewood with a vibrant and joyful musical celebration where two great traditions meet: the music of Django Reinhardt and the timeless sounds of New Orleans — the birthplace of jazz.
Guitarist Stephane Wrembel returns with Django New Orleans, a project that blends Gypsy jazz guitars with the brass, rhythms, and street-parade energy of New Orleans. Following the success of the first album, the band now celebrates the release of Django New Orleans
2, and this special concert will feature music from both albums, moving from swinging Parisian melodies to infectious second-line grooves.
The ensemble features Stephane Wrembel and Josh Kaye on guitars, Adrien Chevalier on violin, Steven Duffy on tuba, Scott Kettner on drums, David Langlois on washboard and percussion, Nick Driscoll on saxophone and clarinet, Joe Boga on trumpet, and Sarah King on vocals.
They will be joined by world-acclaimed pianist Jean-Michel Pilc, one of the great improvisers in jazz today, along with very special surprise guests joining throughout the evening.
