I am honored to present the Juneteenth 2025 installment of Poetic Pages: Where Black Poets Speak — a community-centered celebration of voice, creativity, and liberation featuring dynamic Black poets and multidisciplinary artists.Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day when more than 250,000 enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their freedom — two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. It is a reminder of delayed justice, hard-fought progress, and the unrelenting power of Black resilience.This special event seeks to uplift that legacy through the transformative power of poetry and performance. Poetic Pages was created as a space for reflection and revival — where Black poets can speak boldly, truthfully, and unapologetically about the past, present, and future. Their words carry the weight of memory, the beauty of resistance, and the hope of what’s yet to come. <h3>🎤 Featuring:</h3> <ul><li>ShakinDaWorld – A Queens native and multidisciplinary artist whose work merges hip hop, R&amp;B, spoken word, and guitar. A BRIC-featured performer and Grammy-nominated guitarist, he recently published his debut poetry collection ShakinThesePages and has shared his talents across stages nationwide.</li><li>EyeRene – A poet and social worker whose writing is rooted in healing, service, and empowerment. Her debut book Writing So the Healing Can Begin offers readers a raw yet restorative journey through lived experience and advocacy.</li><li>Positive Gunter – A poetic force and community voice who transforms personal growth into performance.
