Researching Old World Records: Emily Richardson Early church records often offer dates of baptism, marriage and burial. Locating the right ones for your ancestors can help you learn more about their family in the Old World. The presentation will focus on those records available online, primarily on records from England and Germany.Emily Richardson began her genealogy journey as the daughter of a professional genealogist. She realized after the death of her mother as she received 40 boxes and 4 filing cabinets of genealogy research that she needed more education and has attended the IGHR (Institute of Genealogy &amp; Historical Research, 2016, 2017), SIGR (Salt Lake Institute of Genealogical Research, 2017), Gen-Fed (2018) and Texas IGR in summer 2019.  In addition, Emily participated in Pro-Gen, Study Group 34 completing the program in 2018. Emily retired in December 2018 and relocated to Texas with her husband to be closer to two of her three sons.  She has opened a professional genealogy practice to help others find their ancestors and, most importantly, the stories behind the people.  Emily has spoken on beginning genealogy topics multiple times to senior citizen groups, lifelong learning organizations and with community centers.

Maximizing Online Searching: Michelle DwyerMore and more resources are placed online every day, and with the current health crisis limiting access to many libraries and repositories, that online access is more important than ever. This presentation will focus on using search parameters effectively, focusing a search, Boolean search terms, and a variety of websites to search.I have loved genealogy since the day my grandmother helped me to draw a family tree for a school project. For 24 years, I researched my own family, using a wide variety of records from England, Ireland, Germany, and the United States. I researched for many friends and acquaintances, working with adoptees to locate living relatives, identifying ancestors for Native American tribal enrollment, tracing Jewish immigrants to the US, and tracing enslaved ancestors for African-American families. Now I have turned my passion for helping people to discover their story into a small business here in Texas.

Mapping Your Ancestor’s Land on Google Earth: Jim ThornhillEver wanted to find your ancestor's land? Or see where deed coordinates align on modern maps? This presentation will introduce the Bureau of Land Management website and how to identify townships, ranges, and sections on deeds, and how to understand descriptions. We'll then look at Google Earth and how to map the aforementioned information.Jim Thornhill is the owner and chief researcher for Heroes of the past. With over 15 years of experience he specializes in Texas research and migration through the antebellum South. He is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, the Texas State Genealogical Society, and the Dallas Genealogical Society.

Tips for Locating Your AncestorsJim Thornhill will help demystify census enumeration districts, then show you how to locate your ancestor's homes/property using enumeration district locations, the Texas General Land Office, return addresses on correspondence, and other miscellaneous clues.
