Teetotal Initiative is a Pittsburgh-based 501(c)3 non-profit focused on individuals committed to a sober lifestyle.Teetotal Initiative’s inclusive and sober-focused high-quality programming addresses some of the most common causes of relapse - isolation, boredom, and loneliness. Our mission is to help individuals to sustain sobriety. Our goal is to enhance quality of life and support relapse prevention through free events, activities, and high-quality programming.​As the first-of-its-kind recreational sober community, Teetotal Initiative inspires a stigma-free and celebratory social atmosphere, promoting meaningful sobriety and community opportunities for all, regardless of their journey to recovery. We welcome all forms of recovery and are not aligned to any specific program. Teetotal Initiative does not provide support groups or professional medical services. Instead, we care for the “rest of life” that happens outside of formal treatment and group support and are a complement to anyone’s recovery toolbox.

Church of the Redeemer

Spring Book Arts Workshop In Part I of this workshop, create a one-of-a-kind handmade book for storing your thoughts and dreams (or, in honor of Teetotal’s new book club, for recording your list of books to read or your thoughts on books you’re already reading)! In Part II of the workshop, we’ll make handmade pop-up cards too! Join us for a fun and creative afternoon at The Church of the Redeemer in Squirrel Hill on Sunday, May 18th from 2:30 to 4:30 PM for a hands-on book making workshop led by book artist Ginnie Farnsworth. This workshop is perfect for beginners and those who like to play with paper. Ginnie will guide us through the process of making a simple pamphlet book – one you can embellish to your heart’s content and make over and over again for yourself or as gifts. We will work with colorful papers and thread to create a book just crying out to be decorated and personalized. Also, pop-up cards are always popular! Ginnie will explain how pop-ups work and guide us in making a card to keep or give away. You’ll learn the basics and then be able to make pop-up cards whenever you’re inspired. All materials will be provided, and each participant will leave with a pamphlet book and pop-up card to use or share with someone else. Ginnie will also share resources for continuing to explore the basics of book arts. This workshop is a wonderful way to unwind, get creative, and make something—a gift for yourself or someone else. Instructor Bio: Ginnie Farnsworth is a book artist and photographer from Regent Square. Captivated by handmade artists books, book arts have been a life-long interest. A photographer, Ginnie wanted to share her images in ways other than a frame. She’s most challenged by tying the content to the best book structure. Her books have been juried into both large and small shows across the country. Both parking lots are free on Sundays. · Port Authority bus routes 61A, 61B, 61C, 61D, 64, and 74 stop at Forbes &amp; Murray. · ****The book workshop will be in the church’s Parish Hall. If approaching the building from Forbes Avenue, walk up the driveway past the 1st red door on your right and proceed through the short parking lot/driveway between the church and St. Edmund’s Academy. Go around back to your right and enter the 2nd red door where you will find offices and the Parish Hall. This location is accessible with an automatic door and no stairs. ****· Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options will be available. · A gender-neutral, accessible restroom is available.
