This free workshop is tailored for families with young children!

Come read, write, color, and celebrate Mexican culture! Join us to learn about the famous Mexican legend of Los Volcanes with fun activities designed for elementary school children and up. This is a family-friendly event to promote the use of Spanish and connect parents and children. This workshop will be held in Spanish and is free with a suggested donation of $20. Registration is required; please email angela@nationalmuseumofmexicanart.org for more information. María Luisa Parra is the Director of the Spanish Program in the Department of Romance Languages ​​at Harvard. She holds a BA in Psychology from UNAM and a PhD in Hispanic Linguistics from El Colegio de México. Her research focuses on Spanish language acquisition and pedagogy among Latino children and youth in the U.S. Her classroom work integrates multiple literacies, critical pedagogy, and the arts, as well as youth and community engagement. She was awarded the Most Innovative Professor Award by Babson College in 2019 and recognized as one of Harvard's Student Body Favorite Professors in 2022. ___________ ¡Ven a leer, escribir, colorear y celebrar nuestra cultura mexicana¡ Acompáñanos a conocer y disfrutar la famosa leyenda mexicana de “Los Volcanes” con actividades divertidas diseñadas para niños de primaria en adelante. Este es un evento familiar para promover el uso del español y la conexión entre padres e hijos. Este taller es gratuito con una donación sugerida de $20. Su investigación se enfoca en la adquisición y pedagogía del español, en niños y jóvenes latinos en EE. UU. Su trabajo en el aula integra la literacidad múltiple, la pedagogía crítica y las artes, así como la participación juvenil y comunitaria. Fue galardonada con el premio a la profesora más innovadora por Babson College en 2019 y reconocida como una de las profesoras favoritas del estudiantado de Harvard en 2022.
