Celebrate Global Diversity  and Support the Catalyst Fund: An Evening of Blues and Latin-inspired Cuisine

The Catalyst Fund invites you to close out the Global Citizen's Forum with an evening of blues by Kevin Burt, Friday, March 5, at 7 pm. For those in Des Moines, pick up a Latin-inspired boxed meal from Delicias by Lorena prior to the concert to enhance your evening and support a local caterer. Suggested donation for the concert is $20. <a href="https://alumni.drake.edu/catalystfund" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Donate Now</a>. (Don't forget to return to this page to complete your registration.)<a href="http://kevinburtmusic.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Kevin Burt</a> is a self-taught musician whose smooth, warm vocal presentation sets a mood of relaxed exhilaration, with a welcome mixture of serious music and infectious humor audiences of all ages seem to enjoy. Kevin is the 2018 International Blues Challenge winner in three categories, and a 2019 Blues Foundation nominee. He is a member of the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame.<a href="https://www.facebook.com/deliciasbylorena/?ref=page_internal" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Lorena Alomia </a>was selected as the Iowa Restaurant Association 2020 Faces of Diversity Award Winner. She features food from her native Columbia and all of South America. Lorena says she was “born to prepare delicious foods” and anyone who has tried her Latin-inspired cuisine is quick to agree. A native of Colombia, Lorena grew up working in the kitchen at her grandmother’s side. When you complete your registration, you can order and pay for your meal or opt out of this portion of the event. Be sure to order your meal(s) by Wednesday, March 3, at 12 noon.Menu Options - $13.50 Each<ul><li>Medium stuffed arepa (chicken), 2 baked empanadas (one chicken and one steak), plantain chips, dessert</li><li>Arroz con pollo (Colombian chicken fried rice) with sweet plantains, 2 baked empanadas (one chicken and one steak), dessert</li><li>Gluten-free, vegan/vegetarian options are available.</li></ul>This will be a COVID-safe event. Kevin will perform virtually, so you can watch from the comfort of your own home. Prior to the concert, you can pick up your "grab-and-go" boxed meal at the Olmsted Center, Pomerantz Stage. Two menus will be offered, and you can indicate your choice in the order form.<a href="https://alumni.drake.edu/catalystfund" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Catalyst Fund </a>was created by a group of faculty committed to advancing the goals of equity and inclusion at Drake University. Catalyst Scholarships are awarded to students who are part of an historically and/or currently underrepresented group. Examples of underrepresented groups include domestic students of color, undocumented immigrants, refugees, and first generation college students.
