StorySlam Oakland

The Sound Room is aptly named. The focus is on the sound or the music. Unlike clubs where the performance may be peripheral to the experience, at the Sound Room the performance is the experience.  We are an all-ages listening room. We exist to present great music and promote jazz as an art form.The Sound Room is the home of Bay Area Jazz & Arts, a  501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on promoting the Arts.

Ordinary people tell true stories about reaching the breaking point. Over the edge. Had enough. Did something!Put your name in the hat for a chance to tell a five-minute story about the time you went Over the Edge.Featured storyteller: Bryant Hicks.Bryant Hicks is one of the funniest comedians in the Bay Area where he is recognized as one of the Bay's leading talents. Excelling as a showrunner and producer, he truly shines as a stand-up performer. Bryant regularly travels the United States and performs all over the world. He's a regular with Don’t Tell Comedy. His comedy resume includes performing with Jerrod Carmichael, Ali Wong, Dave Chappelle among other notable credits.In his own words, Bryant’s stand-up is "like a sudden burst of laughter, shining like sunshine through the Bay Area fog, brightening every second of the night with a laugh!" Hosted by Inanc K. and Idrissa.
