A self-care retreat when facing the unknown.

In this time of deep transition, pivoting, and darkness in our lives, so many of us are facing the unknown in every direction. Finances, employment, relationships, health – so many of these and more – many of us are now standing on very uncertain ground. What leads us when the intellect cannot? For our primary tool, knowledge - and its companions, predictability, certainty, stability - is gone. Plans that had seemed absolute have dissolved beneath our feet. How do we find an inner stability that is independent of the unknown? How can we find an internal steadiness in the darkness?The retreat is not going to tell you what decisions to make - how can it, because we all have different decisions? However, this retreat is designed to help draw your spirit to an inner clarity, stability, and certainty in the darkness. You can be calm in chaos and chaotic in the calm. We will explore different spiritual techniques, many of them using embodied, somatic meditations, and relating to the earth elements. We will journey through guided meditations to anchor yourself to that calm space, no matter your external situation. 
Why is being anchored to that calm space important? Because it is from that calm space that you can make the best decisions, have the longest stamina, tap into your deepest wisdom - all of which are essential for journeying well through the darkness.For this self-care retreat, we will engage in visual meditations and reflections to assist you journey through the darkness. We will draw wisdom from the earth elements (air, water, earth, fire) and the Spirit* that undergirds it all. There will be time for guided meditation, personal reflection, and sharing.The time will be gentle. We will tenderly probe the paradox: Clarity in the darkness. We will look at different ways to solidify an inner clarity, independent of externals, as we walk through the unknown.This retreat is interspiritual, open to all. There will also be time for optional, interspiritual prayer at the end of our retreat for additional sustenance, wisdom, stamina, and healing in the darkness. Tentative schedule:5 PM – Gathering and Opening Guided Meditation5:30 PM – Drawing Wisdom from the Elements6 PM – When You Lose the Primary Sense of Knowing: What Leads Now?6:45 PM – Optional PrayerWhat to Bring: 4 bowls – dishes (1 bowl each of water, leaves, and crumpled up paper. The fourth bowl, bring empty.). Bring also a candle, if you wish. Cost: Donation. Recommended amount: $20-$40. For those who have more, please take a moment and consider giving more to offset those who need to give less in these times. No one will be turned away. If circumstances are dictating that you give less, please give what you comfortably can. Again, no one will be turned away; you are being carried by others.I am not a therapist and this is not therapy, but it can often augment the work you are already doing.
