Founded in 1989, Miami Light Project is a not-for-profit cultural organization which presents live performances by innovative dance, music and theater artists from around the world; supports the development of new work by South Florida-based artists; and offers educational programs for students of every age.

This workshop is called "How Can You, As a Dancer, Direct Your Own Dance Film?" and is part of ScreenDance Miami Festival 2021, presented by Miami Light Project.For more information about ScreenDance Miami, please visit our <a href="http://www.miamilightproject.com/screendance_miami/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">website</a>. How Can You, As a Dancer, Direct Your Own Dance FilmLed by Carla ForteCarla Forte will share her experience as a contemporary dancer, who directs her own dance for the camera, and share some of the most important elements to keep in mind when producing a dance film. Carla Forte lives and works in Miami, Florida. She is one of the founder of Bistoury Physical Theatre and Film. After training as a dancer, Forte established herself as a media artist with a practice incorporating dance , film and performance. Her Features Films Ann (2016) The Holders (2015) Historias de la Urbe (2010) have circulate in film festivals such as Atlanta International Film Festival, Miami International Film Festival, St. Louis International Film Festival, Festival EuroMediterraneo, Mix Mexico Film festival, among others. Forte has directed internationally featured dance video works including Hurricane (2017), Staring at the ceiling (2014), Interrupta (2013) exhibited in important festivals and galleries as OGA VideoArt Exhibitions, Festival Les Instants Vidéo, Pool Internationale TanzFilmPlattform, Experiments in Cinema Festival, South Florida PBS. Forte has won grants, artistic residencies and recognition from prestigious programs around the world as: Knight Arts Challenge Miami (2019); En Residencia - Artist in Residency  Koubek Center Miami-Dade College (2019).  Kulturscio'k live art collective Residency Program, Domicella - Italy (2019 - 2018), FONLAD Residency Program Coimbra, Portugal (2018); Berlinale Talent Berlin (2017), TigerTail Artist Access-Award(2017),  Miami Light Project for Here &amp; Now artist: 2016, among others.
