PERFORMERJack Gao, piano ABOUT THE PROGRAMExperience an afternoon of expressive and imaginative piano works as pianist Jack Gao takes the stage. First prize winner of the 2023 Naumburg International Piano Competition, Gao has been lauded for his “imaginative shadings and textural wizardry.” A student at The Juilliard School, he has also earned top honors in the Gina Bachauer and Juilliard Concerto Competitions, quickly establishing himself as one of the most compelling young pianists of his generation.The program explores the art of fantasy across time—from Chopin’s poetic etudes, mazurkas, and impromptus to Mozart’s introspective Fantasia in D minor, Scriabin’s mystical Sonata-Fantasy, and Ravel’s vivid and haunting Gaspard de la Nuit.
