Bombs Away! Comedy and Commonwealth Sanctuary are proud to present the Crosstown Comedy Festival, a comedy contest and celebration of the best comedians from Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, and across the country to compete to win the Festival. Join us each week on Thursdays at Commonwealth Sanctuary and Saturdays at Bombs Away! Comedy @ The Comet as we laugh and celebrate local comedy.

Each Round the audience will vote for their favorite Rookie and Veteran Comedians to move on to the next round. Comedians that move on will perform at the other participating venue in the next round. The Finals are August 29th at Commonwealth Sanctuary, and the Best of Fest featuring the best non finalists in the contest is on August 30th. Both shows are headlined by Marcella Arguello. The Winners will receive a cash prize and future bookings at both comedy clubs. Winning comedians each round will be decided by a combination of audience vote and judges scores.

Marcella is a stand up comedian, writer and actor who has been working for almost twenty years. Her comedy knows no bounds while she eagerly discusses any and every topic that tickles her. From dating short guys - because she has no other options at 6’2’’ - to being mistaken for a man, her Latinx identity, her take on race & gender, and wild stories & situations she’s gotten herself in and out of. Marcella’s debut half hour comedy special Bitch, Grow Up. was released in 2023 on HBO MAX. It’s a half hour that fully represents the comedians abilities to handle all forms of comedy - from one liners to stories to crowd work - the many years she’s put in absolutely shines through. Of the special, Latin Media writes that Marcella “manages to ruffle feathers while delivering a routine that feels absolutely joyous.” Decider.com writes, “she has earned this moment.”

In 2025, Marcella can be seen on the upcoming second season of Poker Face on Peacock, as well as returning to After Midnight on CBS where she made a great first impression last year, according to Vulture. She relocated to Chicago where she runs her monthly show, Comedy Is Dead! on the second Thursdays of the month at the Lincoln Lodge. The show is a result of her podcast of the same name, which tackles her experience with the industry and why she feels stand up is currently in a strange place. She hopes it inspires more comedians to put more care in their craft and helps audiences appreciate stand up. She is also currently working on her first solo show. She is most proud of her formerly monthly show, Women Crush Wednesdays, which always had a fresh and diverse line up, including national headliners as well as the brightest up and comers; Marcella mercilessly hosted the best curated show in all of Los Angeles and she’s happy to have provided numerous opportunities to many comedians because of it. Her debut album, The Woke Bully - which debuted at #3 on the Billboard Comedy Charts and was named One Of The Best Comedy Albums of 2019 by NPR program Bullseye - is a combination of Marcella’s unique perspective & honesty and captures what it’s like to experience her live. Her follow up album, Mercury in Reggaeton, is a collection of rejected material from her debut special and is a perfect depiction of her ability to go with the flow of a live show. Your tickets are available for refund up to 24 hours before door time of listed show. Bombs Away! Comedy will allow transfer of ticket to a future show as available if you are unable to attend or your ticket is not eligible for refund.
