STEP UP Workshop: Women in Physics Lesson
Overview
Join us for an engaging Workshop on STEP UP Women in Physics: This workshop is designed specifically for educators teaching physics during the 2025-2026 school year. The research-based lesson (link) explores the participation of women in physics and examines how everyday assumptions and societal influences can affect students’ interest in the field. Through an interactive presentation, students review data on representation in physics and consider how their experiences and expectations may shape their educational pathways. The lesson is suitable for all students and aims to encourage interest in pursuing undergraduate studies in physics.
One or two of our STEP UP Ambassadors and PhysTEC leads will facilitate this workshop and provide valuable insights on effectively implementing the lesson in classroom settings and remote teaching environments.
Please note that this workshop is tailored for classroom instructors (pre-service, in-service and post-secondary) and aims to cater specifically to their needs and interests. If you are a non-classroom educator or administrator interested in learning more about the lessons please contact us via stepupphysics@aps.org for a separate discussion.
