Meet at Rising Oak Farm on Nordstrom Lane at 1pm for a double farm tour / talk / w hands-on compost option.

Rising Oak Farm

Discover soil building and enrichment options practiced on Orcas to help amend your garden or farm. Innovative worm nest food compost model, natural farming microbe benefits - all practices you can scale to your home or farm.First stop: Meet-up at Rising Oak Farm at 1pm on Nordstrom Lane.Demo and Hands on! Second stop is at the Worm Nest system managed by Davis Limbach. The worm nest method is an all-inclusive, low-labor, clean, simple composting option that is also pest free and beautiful! We will make a deposit in a worm nest as a community in a ritual of giving back to our source of life. There will also be a sample of the inner workingings of the worm nest projected for easy viewing while a short talk is given on the vision for a county-wide community compost network. Please bring garden gloves and work clothes for the community compost activity. And some compostable food scraps are welcome too.
