Join Casey Trees for a fun day of service around Emery Heights Park &amp; Recreation Center! 🌳Kick off Pride Festival Weekend by giving back to your community 🏳️‍🌈! We will be mulching and clearing weeds around some of the trees we've planted around the park.This isn't just about trees — it's about building the kind of inclusive community where neighbors work together, kids learn by doing, and everyone gets their hands a little dirty for something that matters. You'll learn skills you can use in your own yard, meet your neighbors, and help ensure the trees around Emery Park &amp; Rec Center thrive for years to come.Trees need us as much as we need them! Your help with weeding and mulching these vulnerable trees will give them a leg up in becoming an important part of our growing tree canopy. We provide all the necessary tools and supplies to care for trees. Participants will receive a short, hands-on training on site. After learning the tools and techniques, participants will split up into groups and begin caring for trees throughout the park.Register now! Two days before the event, we will send a logistics and directions email with detailed information about how to get to the site. You will receive this email ONLY if you are signed-up for this event. RequirementsRegister: Register in advance. If your plans change prior to the event, please update your registration status so we are sure to have the necessary number of volunteers.Waiver: All volunteers must pre-register and sign a completed volunteer waiver form BEFORE participating in the Tree Care event.Youth Volunteers: Youth volunteers may participate with an adult supervisor .Clothes and shoes: Dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather. We recommend long pants and other protections for sun, bugs and poison ivy. Please wear closed toed shoes, boots are preferred over sneakers.Skills: No specific skills or tools required. Each event starts with a tool safety and planting demonstration. Volunteers work alongside experienced staff.Water: Bring a full water bottle!Food: No food will be provided on site; please bring your own if you would like to eat during the event.Animals: No animals are allowed at the event except for service animals.Parking: Limited parking available. Carpooling is encouraged to reduce the number of vehicles.Bike Parking: Bikes can be locked to nearby signs.Public Transportation: The nearest bus line is Georgia Av NW &amp; Madison St NW served by bus 70.What to expect:8:30am - Check in opens8:30am - 9:00am - Breakfast is served9:00am - Opening remarks and tool safety demo9:15am - Work begins!
