6pm | $20 Suggested Donation In this generative writing workshop, Willow Defebaugh, Editor-in-Chief of Atmos and author of The Overview, will guide participants in her signature method of ecological reflection: beginning with a species, and uncovering what wisdom it holds for the human world. Participants will be invited to explore their own stories of kinship with the more-than-human—whether with an animal, plant, mineral, or ecosystem—and to translate those connections into short pieces of prose or poetic nonfiction. The session will begin with a short reading from The Overview, followed by a guided meditation, a creative prompt, and space to write and share. Open to all levels of writing experience, this is an opportunity to deepen your practice by expanding the circle of who you write with—and for. <a href="https://atmos.earth/sphere/willow-defebaugh/" title="https://atmos.earth/sphere/willow-defebaugh/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Willow Defebaugh</a> is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of Atmos Magazine, an award-winning climate and culture media platform that tells stories about the environment through a lens of creativity. She is the author of The Overview, a deep ecology newsletter and book. She is a lifelong student of nature and graduated with a degree in creative writing from the University of Michigan. Her work has been featured in Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Teen Vogue, V Magazine, Interview, i-D, BBC, The Guardian, them, New York Magazine, and more. She lives in Brooklyn on unceded Lenape territory.
