With roots in Ireland and the U.S., they fuse deep tradition with a modern spark, making their performances both timeless and electrifying. Their live album captures this energy, and after a successful, critically acclaimed tour a few years back, they’re heading stateside again for a new round of gigs in April and May. The music can be as quiet as porch ballads on a lonely summer night or as textured as a multi-pieced orchestra layering on top of soaring bowed guitars. Dynamic and expressive, Of Tree’s music draws from deep emotions of loss and triumph, failure and hope. <h4>*Southwest Rambler Bios</h4>Hughie Kennedy:  A button accordionist from Cork City, Hughie has been steeped in traditional music all his life. He’s toured the U.S. with *The Young Irelanders* and played at festivals and céilís across Ireland, Germany, and Switzerland. You might have heard him on *Céilí House* or *Fleadh TV*, and he’s a respected teacher in the Irish trad community. She’s performed with Sharon Shannon, Gaelic Storm, and others, blending raw tradition with her own unique sound. His work with the Seaboard—an instrument rarely seen in trad—has been so groundbreaking that it’s now part of the school music syllabus in Ireland. He blends Irish melodies with electronic textures, creating a sound that’s as innovative as it is rooted. As a professional musician Parks has performed with acts such as the Eagles, Sarah McLachlan, Amy Grant, Evanescence, Josh Grobin and Disturbed, but also with her own projects - The Wires String Duo, Of Tree, and In the Pines. She’s traveled throughout Asia, Europe and the United States, playing with her bands, the Mantovani Orchestra and the Des Moines Symphony. Parks is currently the founder/instructor of Drunken Fiddles - a fiddle workshop for adults who want to learn to play a stringed instrument from the absolute beginning while incorporating fiddle styles and non-classical techniques along the way. When not performing or teaching Parks can be heard on the NPR affiliated radio station 91.9 Classical KC as the co-host of Sound Currents - a show dedicated to championing New Music.Benjamin Parks:Benjamin Parks is a Kansas City-based folk singer and songwriter who blends raw emotional depth with evocative storytelling through his music. Known for his soulful voice and introspective lyrics, Parks has become a defining voice in the local folk scene as the frontman of Of Tree, a project that explores themes of self-reflection, love, and the complexities of human experience.In 2017, Parks released his debut EP, Sorry, We're Chosen, which garnered attention for its heartfelt melodies and poignant lyrics. The EP set the stage for his full-length album, How Does It Feel (2019), which further cemented his reputation as a talented singer-songwriter with an ability to craft deeply personal yet universally relatable songs. With songs that resonate with fans for their vulnerability and honesty.Currently, Parks is working on his highly anticipated sophomore album.Though primarily focused on his music, Benjamin Parks’ artistic sensibilities extend beyond the realm of songwriting. As a visual artist, Parks has made a name for himself with large-scale portraits, figurative work, and interactive installations. His work has been displayed in galleries and museums across the country, including the Albrecht Kemper Museum of Art, Leedy Voulkous Art Center, and the Foundry Arts Centre.
