Join Music Research Strategies for a participatory listening engagement which explores metaphors of surveillance management and technologies of resistance, particularly through improvisation techniques. Led by Music Research Strategies, the cultural work persona of Creative Music percussionist Marshall Trammell as well as a community engagement platform, the audience will participate as conductors to form an “Insurgent Learning Conductor Ensemble.” The audience will become the conductor, and will work with a set of gestures and scores for Music Research Strategies’ solo percussion to form an unpredictable and ever-changing narrative. About Music Research Strategies: Self-styled Music Research Strategies is, simultaneously, the Creative Music percussionist Marshall Trammell’s cultural work persona and community engagement platform. Their Insurgent Learning Workshops are an ongoing interculturally-situated, Performing Political Education platform designed to amplify the voices, experiences and celebrations of oppressed and discontented communities through Critical Improvised Music technologies, praxeologies (complexity theory and project management), field and case studies in Research Justice, Participatory and Collaborative Research and collective reimaginings of the tactical media from Underground Railroad-era for today’s political landscape. AccessibilityCTHQ is located on the 7th Floor of 59 East 4th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue in Manhattan. The building entrance has no steps and elevator access is provided directly to CTHQ. Service animals are welcome.A variety of seating options are available including: plastic chairs with backs and wooden benches and stools. This event begins at 6:00 pm and ends at 8:00 pm.Accessibility RequestsIf you have any questions regarding accessibility or to request specific accommodations, please email: curatorial@creativetime.org.Covid GuidelinesWhile masks are not required, they are available to all guests at CTHQ and mask-wearing is encouraged. These stations are not wheelchair accessible. The closest wheelchair accessible stations are: Bleecker Street on the 6 line and Broadway-Lafayette on the B/D/F/M line, with an elevator on the north side of Houston St. between Lafayette St. and Crosby St. Parking in the vicinity is free after 6 PM.
