In this session, Robin Shapiro will help review the major national organizations and how each can help individuals and advocates support patient navigation and care. There will be a discussion about how health advocacy can help diverse patient populations. Identification of national organization, credentialing, and efforts to grow the field will also be addressed.</p><p></p><h2>Objectives:</h2><ol><li>Identify the major national organizations, their roles, and opportunities to support advocates and patients</li><li>Learn the history and status of credentialing of Health and Patient Advocates</li><li>Determine how to find advocates that can address diverse patient needs</li></ol><p></p><h2>About the Presenter:</h2><p><strong>Robin Shapiro</strong> believes that health advocacy will be a common skill that people develop to help achieve the best health possible. She has worked in health care-related public relations, public affairs, crisis management, marketing, and health advocacy since 1988. She is founder of award- winning healthcare engagement companies. She co-founded and is the Board Chair of the Washington State Health Advocacy Association (WASHAA). Robin is also a public speaker and published author.</p><p></p><h2>CEU Information: </h2><h3>Board Certified Patient Advocates (BCPA):</h3><p><strong>This session is available for BCPA CEs (1 CE).</strong> Your purchase includes access to the event recording that originally took place on November 5, 2020. It also includes materials related to the presentation (slides, Q&amp;A, etc.).</p><p>In order to receive your BCPA 1.0 CE credit as per PACB requirements, you must complete a post-assessment. Instructions for how to access the recording and assessment will be provided via email after completing registration.
