The Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA) is a statewide nonprofit public authority focused on maximizing the value and impact of community development, economic development and clean energy initiatives throughout New Hampshire. Join the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA) and New Hampshire Humanities (NHH) for a dynamic conversation about the evolving role of community and what it means for Holderness and the Squam Lake region, taking place at the Squam Lakes Association. This is an opportunity to connect with neighbors, share your experiences, and explore project ideas for a stronger, more resilient community.This event is free &amp; open to the public. <h3>Meet Your Facilitators</h3>Cindy Pulkkinen: Cindy Pulkkinen has been in the teaching world since 1985 and is honored to be a New Hampshire Humanities Connections facilitator. She loves books, languages, traveling, and learning from others. Connecting with students and opening a space for all to share is her number one goal. Cindy currently lives in Lincoln.Maria Sanders: Dr. Maria Sanders is a philosophy professor and coordinates the philosophy program at Plymouth State University. She is also an attorney and founder of Philosophy 4 Life, LLC which promotes meaningful living. As an applied ethicist, Dr. Sanders’ research engages the public in scholarly philosophical dialogue within the areas of medicine, business, education, and law while encouraging thoughtful interaction with existing and emerging technologies. She has facilitated town-wide happiness quests, hosted local radio and television programs, and traveled to all fifty states in the United States, exploring how spaces become meaningful places and the essential connection between human beings, their communities, and the natural world.

<h3>About Squam Lakes Association</h3>Located in the heart of New Hampshire’s Lakes Region, the Squam Lakes Association (SLA) serves as a community hub for outdoor recreation, education, and community engagement. Through funding from the CDFA’s Community Center Investment Program, the organization repurposed a former motel into a state-of-the-art facility to expand its capacity.The renovations created ADA-compliant spaces for community gatherings, a fully equipped laboratory to advance scientific research, and offices for SLA staff and the three non-profits using the building. By insulating and upgrading the adjacent barn with plumbing and energy-efficient heating, the SLA extended its usability from three to ten months per year and added dedicated gear storage and maintenance space.The upgraded facilities will allow SLA to expand its programming and deepen its community partnerships, breaking down barriers to outdoor recreation for community members in Holderness and surrounding towns.
