Anyone 18 years and older is welcome! Death Cafés are open to all, regardless of age, background, or beliefs. The only requirement is a willingness to engage in respectful and curious conversation about death. Participants will be removed for any inappropriate or offensive communication or behavior.

What happens at a Death Café?

Participants gather, often over with refreshments, to discuss death-related topics that arise organically. There is no set agenda or speaker—just open conversation guided by participants’ interests. Facilitators help ensure a respectful and inclusive space.

Is this a religious or spiritual event?

No. Death Cafés are not affiliated with religious, spiritual, or philosophical ideologies. The conversation is participant-driven and welcomes diverse perspectives.

Will I have to share personal stories or feelings?

Only if you want to, sharing is entirely voluntary, and listening is just as valuable as speaking.

Is a Death Café a grief support group?

No. While grief may come up in conversation, Death Cafés are not intended for processing personal grief or loss. A bereavement group or counseling may be more appropriate if you seek grief support.

What if I feel uncomfortable or emotional during the discussion?

That’s okay. Conversations about death can bring up a range of emotions. You can step away, listen quietly, or change the topic. Facilitators are there to support a comfortable experience for everyone.

Many participants feel lighter, more connected, and inspired to live more fully. Some report a greater peace about death, while others gain new perspectives and friendships.

Can I bring someone with me?

Absolutely! Bringing someone else can ease any initial discomfort and enrich the discussion. They will need to register to participate.
