<h2>Project Description</h2><h3>This easy fitting A-line style dress features a center block of simple geometric smocking on the dress front and two smocked sections on the dress back.  Working with #12 perle cotton, a #10 crochet hook, and a strip of entredeux, learn how to combine two simple crochet stitches, single and double crochet, into a charming scalloped edge trim.  The tailored short sleeves have a box pleat at the cap.  The dress buttons all the way down the back.  The pattern sheets in sizes 2, 4, 6, and 8 will be included in the project kits.  The class kit will make up to the largest size.  Kit available in five different Robert Kaufman 100% cotton lawns trimmed with ivory entredeux and #12 Presencia Perle cotton crochet trim.</h3>

<h2>Class Experience</h2><h3>This nine hour class will be divided in three, three hour sessions each spaced two weeks apart to allow students time to do the required smocking and crochet &#x27;homework&#x27; between sessions.  Approximately one half of each session will be teaching/demo on my end.  Students will be stitching along during the remainder of the class.  It will be an interactive format allowing students to type in questions/comments at any time.  I will be rotating between three webcams which will allow face to face, super close up, and a clear view of my sewing machine live stitching.  The first three hour session will cover the preparation and pleating of the dress front and back, demo of the crochet stitches to make the scalloped edging, and demo of the simple two-step trellis geometric smocking design.  The second session will cover the construction of the dress front and back and review of the crochet stitches (if necessary).  The third session will cover the sleeves, neckline finish, hem finish, and cast-on stitch embellishment.  Your project kit will arrive to your home at least one week prior to the first class session.</h3>

<h2>Prerequisites</h2><h3>This is a mid intermediate level class.  Basic geometric smocking ability required.  Some previous construction experience is recommended.</h3>

<h2>Pre-class Preparation</h2><ul><li>If you prefer, the fabric can be pre-washed, but not required.</li><li>Paper cut the pattern in chosen size.</li><li>Tape together any required pattern pieces.</li><li>Cut out all required pieces of the dress (the center smocked panel is cut from measurements on the cutting guide, there is NOT a pattern piece)</li></ul>

<h2>'Homework' Between Class Sessions #1 and #2</h2><ul><li>Fuse baby interfacing to the dress front panel, and the dress backs.</li><li>Pleat the dress front center panel and the dress backs.</li><li>Tie off and block the smocked sections on the dress front and backs.</li><li>Smock the dress front center panel and the dress back panels.</li><li>Crochet entredeux strip for dress front center panel.</li></ul><p></p><h2>'Homework' Between Class Sessions #2 and #3</h2><ul><li>Construct the dress front.</li><li>Construct the dress backs.</li></ul>
