Explore highlights from the Center for Brooklyn History's digital map portal while building skills to use maps to compliment curriculum.

Maps tell us much more than where things are located; they can reveal the evolution of a city, the biases of their creators, and systems of powers that continue to shape society today. Join us as we explore the Center for Brooklyn History (CBH)’s new online map portal including nearly 1,500 freely accessible digitized maps! Learn from archivists and educators as we take an intimate look at maps dating back to the 17th century, including the historic Black community of Weeksville. Gain content knowledge about local Brooklyn history, applicable guidance on how to incorporate maps and atlases into any history lesson and engaging map-based activities and lesson plans to support curriculum.CTLE Credits: 2Cost: FREEAccessibility: We strive to offer educator professional learning opportunities that are inclusive spaces for individuals with disabilities and our team is committed to the work that goes into creating safe and productive spaces for all.
