Leadership+Design will invite open discussion and reflection on the topic of  the dubious value of the Name Brand college.

<h3>The Dubious Value of the Name Brand College</h3><p>It is no secret that the lengths students (and families) go to be accepted to a small number of elite colleges and universities is unhealthy and, at times, unethical.  </p><p>The Varsity Blues scandal in 2019 shone a new light on the feeding frenzy around the name brand college.  Just months later, COVID-19 emerged and colleges around the country turned to remote learning.  In that moment, students and parents paused to re-evaluate what it means to even go to college. </p><p>What exactly are we paying for, especially if  our kids are taking classes from their bedrooms?  What makes the name brand college any better than the local public option? And what is the future of college admissions?  </p><p>This spring even the most selective schools went deep into their waitlists. With SATs and ACTs becoming optional and many students less able to pad their resumes with sports, service opportunities, how will elite colleges and universities keep their reputations for being uber-selective? Maybe, just maybe, we are beginning to see through the smoke and mirrors of the admissions game. </p><p>So what is the real value of the name brand college? </p><h3>Join us for an open and honest conversation. </h3><p>This conversation will begin with setting group norms to establish a safe space for honest and authentic sharing and a protocol to prioritize deep reflection and dialogue. Depending on group size we will use breakout rooms to keep conversations appropriately sized.</p><p>This will not be an overly scripted conversation and we very much hope you will join us for some human connection and realness.</p><h3></h3>
