He will share his personal experience of opening his own salon, including making decisions about how to pay his team, determine prices, and scope of services. He also discusses financing your investment, making operational decisions, creating the salon atmosphere, and the benefits of selling retail.

This session is designed specifically for estheticians and will walk you through how to use the back bar products effectively in treatments, how to pair them for results and how to confidently recommend retail products to your clients. Ascend & Achieve: Your Blueprint for Success in Life

Scott Sales, Master Barber and owner of Groom Barber Lounge in Pella, Iowa, will present a class on beard grooming and selecting the right John Amico products for your male clients with beards. This class will to introduce stylists to the world of the Barber Shop, educate stylists on providing beard services and will teach a technique the stylists can use to have meaningful conversations with clients to build long lasting relationships. Scott will discuss the “do’s and dont’s” of beards and familiarize stylists with the tools used for beard trimming. He will also demonstrate a beard conditioning procedure.

This engaging 1-hour continuing education course fulfills the State of Illinois’ mandatory sexual harassment prevention training requirement for licensed cosmetologists, estheticians, nail technicians, and instructors. Through real-world salon scenarios, clear definitions, and practical examples, you’ll learn how to identify, prevent, and respond to inappropriate conduct in the workplace. The certified trainer will cover your legal rights and responsibilities under Illinois and federal law, plus strategies to maintain a safe, respectful salon environment for clients and coworkers alike. Upon completion, you’ll receive an official CE completion certificate via email—ensuring you meet state renewal requirements while building a stronger, more professional business culture.
