Experience the timeless hits that have defined country music, performed live in the elegant setting of The Matthews Opera House.About JJ Kent: JJ Kent is a seasoned country artist with a career spanning decades, blending classic country storytelling with a rich musical legacy. His smooth, “real country” sound recalls legends like George Strait, Travis Tritt, and Willie Nelson, making him a must-see performer for any true country music fan.Kent first made waves in the late 1980s when he signed with Brykas Records in Nashville. His debut album produced two chart-topping singles—"Two Cups of Coffee" and "Pathway of a Fool", both reaching No. 1 on the country charts in June 1990. His talent was recognized early when he won Male Vocalist of the Year in 1988 from the Wyoming Rocky Mountain Country Music Foundation and again in 1990 from the Major Independent Record Label Association.Kent later took his music overseas to London, England, with Prestige Records, expanding his country music career internationally before returning to the U.S. in 2009. Back in the States, he pursued another of his musical passions—the Native American flute. He signed with Spirit Wind Records in New York and went on to win the Coveted Native American Music Awards “Flutist of the Year” (2009), as well as earning three nominations for “Artist of the Year.”Originally from Lander, Wyoming, Kent found his love for music early, inspired by country legends like Charley Pride. His passion for performing began in his teenage years, setting him on the path to a career that has taken him from Nashville to London and back.Now, Kent continues to captivate audiences with his dynamic performances, blending the timeless classics of country music with his own remarkable journey.
