As the non-profit affiliate of the National Press Club, the Institute powers journalism in the public interest.The Institute accomplishes this mission by: offering programs to grow the number of people who produce and support journalism that drives civic engagement; protecting journalists from interference so they can fully and fairly represent the communities they serve; and increasing transparency to keep citizens well-informed and their governments and institutions accountable.

Job seekers: What newsroom hiring managers want you to know

Building a brand is no longer just something influencers need to focus on. It's more important than ever for journalists and communications professionals to have a distinguishable voice and online presence. Learn strategies to grow your brand (and network) across platforms — without becoming overwhelmed. You'll hear from Philip Lewis, senior front page editor at HuffPost, who has amassed hundreds of thousands of followers across platforms and has built a recognizable brand by sharing breaking news and connecting with his personal audience.

Building your brand as a journalist or media professional

How much personal information is too much to disclose in a job application? What are the pathways into management for candidates coming from a reporting background? What are the keys to finding a job in the current environment. Bring your questions for guided, small-group discussions led by experts in the field. Speakers/table leaders will include URL Media co-founders Sara Lomax and S.
