<h3>Introducing With Malice Toward None</h3>The upcoming weeks may be the most divisive period in modern U.S. history - no matter who wins. Whether jubilant or bitter about the outcome, Americans will be tempted to embrace The Four Horsemen of Polarization: <ul><li>Stereotyping</li><li>Dismissing</li><li>Ridicule, and </li><li>Contempt for their fellow citizens who voted the other way. </li></ul>People will worry about how those on the other side will treat them in victory or defeat, and whether it will be possible to work together for the common good. In other words, the election will almost certainly bring a spiking of polarization in the country—unless we act together to make it otherwise. We invite you to join us for our pre-election With Malice Toward None event. Our free, online event will include: <ul><li>Practical ways to deal with our own anxiety</li><li>Reflecting on how you want to regard and treat those on the other side of the election</li><li>Post-election opportunities for moving forward</li></ul>WMTN is not about covering over strong political differences or encouraging people to support whoever wins the election, but about a commitment to respect the humanity of those who differ from us and to forge connections for civic work across differences.The days following the 2020 presidential election may become the most divisive period in modern U.S. history—no matter who wins. The days after the election could begin a dark time of polarization in the land—unless we act together to make it otherwise.
