Learn to throw clay and explore the properties of clay and glaze materials during this 5-week Tuesday evening class.

<h2>Beginning Wheel</h2>Dates: Mar. 4 - Apr. 1Time: 6 :00 - 8:00pmInstructor: Jay Anderson, Ph.D. In this class, students will learn about the properties of clay and glaze materials. Through discussion, demonstration and hands-on experience, we will explore how the material moves and how to control it. Focus will be on bowl forms and throwing off the hump. Personal style and glaze application solutions will also be introduced.$210 for non members$175 for Arts Lab members$30.00 materials fee brought to first session.Minimum of 4 participants required to run the class, Ages 16+. <h3>About the Instructor</h3><h4>James B. Anderson, Ph.D.</h4> Jay grew up on the West Coast, moved to rural Colorado, traveled the world, and now lives in southern Maryland. An artist, writer, photographer, and educator, his other abiding passion is exploring the relationship between Image-Based Learning, Semiotics, and Visual Arts Education. For decades, Jay taught Studio Art and Ceramics in various K-12 and university settings both here and abroad. He still thoroughly enjoys working with students of all ages and levels of ability. He is the author and illustrator of four books, ‘The Oath’, ‘Where Tour Buses Won’t Go’, ‘Threadbare Tales from Silk Road’ and “The Leavenworth Lifers Prison Baseball Organization".
