It's a cool concept. But it's just a bit . . . different.Imagine what might happen, suggests Taylor, if we took Austin's most popular singer-songwriters -- Abra Moore, or Jimmy LaFave, or Patrice Pike, or Ray Wylie Hubbard -- and let them perform, live, in a church? Then imagine if you paired those artists with acoustic "chamber" instruments -- cello, violin, viola, trumpet and hand drums -- and wrote new arrangements, adding dashes of jazz and classical music, that revealed new facets of their most beautiful or familiar songs?Imagine what might happen if you dared to blur all these boundaries between pop music and jazz, between rock music and classical music, between the musical realm and the lyrical realm, between the honky-tonk and the church, and in the spirit of art and fun and experimentation, you reached out for something . . . transcendent?

I'm a lover of the outdoors and the magic of bringing people into nature for life-changing moments of connection and musical bliss. I have been a concert presenter for over 30 years and in 2006 produced a concert of the Beatles White Album that was broadcast on radio and drew over 1600 folks for two shows. Originally studying jazz and classical piano at UT, he has since branched out into many other styles including rock, blues, gospel, reggae, folk and hiphop. He loves bringing the haunting sound of clarinet to campfire jams and potlucks. He plays with the band Skymomma and also regularly performs gospel music with Austin-based singer Leeann Atherton. Ryan loves connecting with people through music, and also teaches music out of his home. He has also been a part of the Ecstatic Dance community for 20 years, including helping put on an Ecstatic Dance with Live Musicians. <h2>Tony Rogers</h2>Tony is a cellist, educator, performer, arranger and composer.He performs regularly with The Austin Piazzolla Quintet, The Waterloo Trio, Jenifer Jackson, the multi-genre group Strings Attached, performs weddings on weekends, and onstage with symphonies, playing 70 public performances per year, teaches a few hundred lessons and directs the Austin Cello Choir every week on Tuesday evenings for cellists of all levels. In his spare time he organizes chamber reading sessions.

<h3>Frequently Asked Questions</h3><h3> </h3>What is Concerts in the Dark all about?Concerts in the Dark offers a unique and transformative way to experience acoustic music by reducing or completely eliminating light, giving the listener the opportunity to immerse themselves entirely in the experience.This innovative series celebrates the purity and intimacy of acoustic music, creating an environment where every note, rhythm, and resonance takes center stage. By tuning out visual distractions, audiences are invited to engage their senses more deeply, fostering a profound connection with the music and its emotional core.Most of our concerts include a short meditation at the beginning. At some events, guests bring blankets and/or pillows, and sit or lie on the floor to experience the music in a relaxing posture, while the musicians walk around the room.🚗 Parking?Park at baseball field lot.👤 Are children welcome?Kids are welcome! For this show, everyone needs a ticket but, anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Please keep in mind that this is an event where the focus is on the music, and might include meditation. So we value peace and an environment of non-disruption for all that are paying to have this experience. This isn't a club atmosphere where there is talking over the music.
