<h3>Befriending Fungi with Aaron Tupac </h3> It's that delightful time of year when the rains have brought us an abundance of mushrooms. Mushrooms come up just a few days after a rain for a short period. So now is the time to go out and meet some mushrooms!On our walk, Aaron will be sharing their love of fungi and how they've learned to become friends with fungi. Come along to learn:• How to notice fungi and where they live• Basic steps for identification of mushrooms• How to contribute to the science of fungi• How to love a mushroom• Meet friends and fungi!Please note this is not a foraging class. Please come prepared to walk for 2 hours on a moderate trail on an unpaved path in the Pasadena area. Recommended to wear closed-toed shoes, long sleeves &amp; pants, and bring water. The exact location and meetup instructions will be emailed in advance. About Aaron:Aaron Tupac (they/them) is a nonbinary-identifying mycologist, educator, community organizer, and speaker based in Los Angeles. Aaron is the founder and host of the values-based fungi-inspired community of <a href="https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/exploring-the-mycoverse-2889869" title="https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/exploring-the-mycoverse-2889869" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Exploring the Mycoverse</a> at Arlington Garden. Aaron works for the <a href="https://fundis.org/" title="https://fundis.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Fungal Diversity Survey</a> on their <a href="https://fundis.org/observe/ca-fundis" title="https://fundis.org/observe/ca-fundis" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">California Fungal Diversity Survey Project</a>, the first government-funded state-wide project of its kind on mycological conservation. They are also the founder and serve as the chair of the <a href="https://namyco.org/interests/conservation-and-stewardship/" title="https://namyco.org/interests/conservation-and-stewardship/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">North American Mycological Association’s Conservation and Stewardship Committee</a>. As a lover of the more-than-human world, they are fascinated with how fungi can teach us about mindfulness, interconnection, and relationships.
