Join us at the beautiful Smith River area for this 10 day Teen Gathering, offering a Wilderness Passage &amp; Survival Quest.

Burton Educational Preserve

This summer we are returning to the Smith River area where the Redwoods meet the coastal mountains of the way upper northwestern corner of California. We will be offering two courses for Teens that run together ; Wilderness Passages and a Survival Quest. Wilderness Passage is meant for teens ready for a edge pushing “rite of passage” and the Survival Quest is geared for teens that have completed the Wilderness Passage and want to go further.This year we want to make sure we have some time for the group to have social and “gathering” vibe with a mix of teens before and after the intensity of passages and quests. This creates time to prepare and integrate the experience into daily life—and Teens need this kind of “hang-out” social time in the woods-with no cell phones, off grid deep in one of the most beautiful Wilderness Areas.Every human has four elemental needs: shelter, water, fire and food. Our ancestors were deeply connected to these needs. They knew how to find and create solutions to meet them, as well as how to pass these essential skills on to the next generation. Without this lineage we would not be here today. Our modern world seems to have forgotten much of this.Wilderness Passage is a journey that reconnects youth with these skills, creating confidence, self sufficiency, and transformation. We light the ceremonial fire for each passage and provide parental guidance for supporting this transformation before and after the passage. Wilderness Passage is for young teens, aged 12-15.Survival Quest is for experienced teens, ages 15-17. (Pre-requisite: Wilderness Passage) Sunday, June 22nd (3-5pm) - Tuesday, July 1st (5-6pm).Parents will drop-off and pick-up at the Burton Educational Preserve in Nevada City. Teens will travel with 4EEE staff to the Smith River mountain wilderness in Northern California. We will travel north on Monday and return the following Tuesday.Any teens travelling from out of State, please contact us at info@4eee.org to discuss best travel/airport pick up times. *includes pick up from airport on Sunday June 22nd - and drop off Tuesday July 1st We offer Sliding Scale Pricing ($1200 | $1000 | $800). All meals are included. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions or special needs at the time of registration. All meals starting Sunday evening dinner and ending with breakfast on Tuesday are included. We encourage teens to bring some extra cash along for snacks during the road trip to and from Smith River. Recommended Packing List:<ol><li>Tent or tarp</li><li>Sleeping bag and pad</li><li>Wool blanket - Arcturus blankets are a great option</li><li>Clothing for a week (high temps: 80s-90s, lows: 40s-50s)</li><li>Swimsuit and towel</li><li>Two pairs of shoes; one can be sandals</li><li>Hats, brimmed for sun and beanie for warmth</li><li>Personal hygiene items (toothbrush, etc.)</li><li>Water bottle (stainless steel is best) - Kleen Canteen single walled is a great option</li><li>Mess kit: bowl/plate, eating utensil, metal cup</li><li>Journal &amp; pen</li><li>Knife (fixed blade) - Mora Companion/Clipper is a great option</li><li>Bandana</li><li>Sunscreen &amp; Rain Jacket</li><li>50 feet of rope/paracord</li></ol> Contact info@4eee.org with any questions.
