Memorial Day Event - May 27, 2021 - DetailsLast year, Mt. Olivet was honored to host dozens of American Legion Post #143 volunteers and friends who placed flags at close to 500 U.S. Military Veteran’s gravesites, then gathered together to salute a bright new U.S. flag donated by the American Legion.  This year, we’re working on an even bigger Memorial Event, subject to change as planning proceeds and the virus situation becomes more clear.  Note: CDC virus protection guidelines will be closely followed.Thursday, May 27th Schedule9 to 11am:  Grass edged around Veteran gravestones… volunteers welcome to bring tools to help1 to 2pm:  Flags placed at Veteran gravesites by American Legion Post #143 volunteers and friends2 to 3pm:  Gather at American Legion Flag Pole to…- hear a few stories about our brave soldiers- salute as a bright, new American flag is raised- remember brave ones as “Taps” is playedAll Are InvitedWe invite families and friends of American Legion Post #143, other local American Legions and VFWs, Cedar Cliff JROTC Cadets, Mt. <p>We're forming a volunteer gardening club with our first gathering scheduled for Saturday, May 10, from 9am to 12noon. Volunteers are invited to help maintain and enhance cemetery grounds, including our new Infant Memorial Garden, Family Garden, and Welcome Garden. This is the first of what we hope will be regular gatherings throughout the year. Wear your gardening clothes. Bring work gloves and your favorite tools. We'll also have an array of tools on hand. You'll meet other like-minded friends, have fun, and do good.</p>
